History and other comments

I got this heavy piece of hardware in December 2003. I was suprised to find so much RAM in it (considering the time frame, original amount was 352 MB), but I've been told it had been used as a CAD workstation so I guess it was needed. It seems to be much faster than the IMHO slow HP 712/80. The HP 735/xx systems are acceptable choises, if you want to run PA-Linux, because they support almost one GB of RAM.

Once I got HP-UX 11.00 that is old enough to boot on this computer I upgraded from HP-UX 10.20 to HP-UX 11.00. This was in December 2006. I also tried to boot from a HP-UX 11.11 CD, but it didn't work. If you want to find out what HP-UX version to run on your old HP workstation or server, I recommend going to www.openpa.net for more information.

In February 2007 I upgraded this system to 735/125 (previously it was a 735/99). The low(er) end part were all put into the HP 735/99.
