COMMENTS NT 4.0 runs quite well on this machine. It would require some more RAM to run Windows 2000 really nicely. This machine does not run TRU64 UNIX or OpenVMS, there is no SRM console firmware available for it*.
ESTIMATED PRICE '95  $15,000

History and other comments

I traded this machine for another computer. This is really a piece of heavy hardware, it probably has at least three times as thick plating as a standard peecee. I don't have plans to run this system so much because it has a big powersupply, being "only" a mid-tower box: 700W (at least it says so on the back of the box). In my opinion this is DEC style overkill. Funny or what?

I recently came to think of that this machine has the largest secondary cache of all my computer systems, my AlphaPC 164SX shares second place along with my SGI Indigo2 and my R4K based DECstations.

*=Rumours, however, say that there indeed was one available at some point in time, maybe a so called "FOR-DIGITAL-INTERNAL-USE-ONLY" release, who knows? Please feel free to contact me if YOU have found an SRM firmware image for this system...

Update: since March 2004, I no longer own this system.
